Wilburn Elam Richards 85 of Coal Branch passed away Friday March 19, 2010 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston. He was born May 2, 1924 in Logan County. He was the son of the late John and Nanny Wells Richards. Wilburn was a retired coal miner and a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife Marie Richards, daughter Claudia Workman, 2 brothers Hayes Richards and James Richards and 1 sister Gladys Townsend.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Long Richards, children Doug Richards and Judith (Jeff) Shabram, step son Eddie (Tina) Cox, grandchildren Chloe Shabram, Samantha Shabram, Cara (Billy) Comer, Amanda Workman and Kimberly Vance, stepgranddaughter Tiffany Cox, great granddaughters Whitney and Makayla, great grandson Nickolas, nieces Brenda (Robert) Brewer, Shirley Barbs and Phyllis Bibbee, nephews David (Diane) Townsend, Berbin (Amy) Townsend, Greg Collins and Jimmy (Gladys) Richards.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday March 22, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill with military graveside services. Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Sunday March 21, 2010 at James Funeral Home.
