LOGAN, W.Va. â William H. âCoochieâ Cropper, 56, of Logan, departed this life Friday, January 29, 2010.
Born September 16, 1953, in Pittsburgh, Pa., "Coochie," as he was known to his friends, was a disabled miner for Island Creek Coal Company at Pond Fork. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, but his second home was the Sports Lounge.
Preceding him in death was his mother Margaret âPeggyâ Ellis, and his sister, Linda Bateman of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Survivors include his dad, Richard Ellis of Man, who raised him; his father, William Cropper of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister, Diane (Jack Jr.) Hatfield of South Charleston; brother, John Ellis of Logan; a "special brother and sister" Ballard and Jan Smith of McConnell; niece, Cristee Hatfield of St. Albans; nephew, J.R. (Jennifer) Hatfield of South Charleston; great-nephew, Atticus Hatfield, and great-nieces Leyla and Ellie Hatfield.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, February 1, at the James Funeral Home with Rev. Audie Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Johnson, Robert Ellis, Bobby Winters, Dale Hensley, Eric Bartram, Lucky R. Jones, J.R. Hatfield and Buddy Stidham.
Honorary pallbearers will be his buddies from the Sports Lounge and Joe Butler.
Visitation will be from 6-9 today at the funeral home.
