Zona Mae Dowden

Zona Mae Dowden, 68, of Lyburn went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2007 at home with her family by her side after a couragous battle with Cancer. Born May 25, 1938 at Chauncey, she was the daughter of the late Martha and Morgan Caperton and the late Lonnie Stafford. Also preceding her in death were one son-in-law, David Maynard and three sisters; Ruth Young, Pauline Caldwell and Janice Stafford. She attended the Lyburn Freewill Baptist Church and her favorite past-time was spending time with and cooking for her family. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband and the love of her life, Clifford Dowden with whom she celebrated her 50th. Wedding Anniversary on January 10th. Her four children who she was such a dear mom to, Clifford (Barbara) Dowden of Columbus, Ohio, Janice Maynard of Waverly, Ohio, Mark (Lisa) Dowden of Lyburn, and Niwonnia (Mick) Baisden of Verdunville. Her two granddaughters whom she adored so much, Kelli Danielle (Joshua) Vance and Alexis Lynn Baisden. Her six grandsons whom she loved so; Clifford Wesley Dowden, David Maynard Jr., Jason (Rebecca) Maynard, Chad (Brandi) Maynard, Mark Dowden II, and Cody Scott Baisden. She was mom-ma to four great-granddaughters; Alyssa and Julia Dowden, and Cassidy Jo and Danielle Maynard. She was a special mom-ma to Jaida Frye. Also surviving are two sisters; Juanita Elkins of Lyburn and Ethel Bragg of Sarah Ann and a host of extended family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday January 20, 2007 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M at James Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Sunday January 21, 2007 at 2:00 P.M and one hour prior to the services at James Funeral Home with Rev. Roscoe Chafin officiating.
